high impact education for curious, inventive space & STEM enthusiasts
Mars Mission Academy to Host Dubai and N. Emirates Jr. Engineers
Dynamic extra-curricular Space education modules launched in Middle East
The Dubai and Northern Emirates sessions are designed for direct impact and experiential learning and provide a taste for real world challenges facing those engaged in the space industry, especially related to Mars exploration, science, and settlements and are similar to those launched in 2010 for Emirati teachers by TSEC’s partner the Arab Youth Venture Foundation. Such types of add-on activities spur interest in studies and careers in space, aviation, and defence industries and all maintain underlying focus on STEM disciplines.
Zacharias P. Cole, International Director of TSEC visiting Sharjah to promote the program states, “In an exciting move, we welcome Middle Eastern based youth in grades K-12 to our extra-curricular space education program. The inaugural Mars Mission Academy comprised of space inspired training is scheduled for Spring break during one or two day sessions.
Starting in April and running until May 26, weekend one and two day sessions will be offered at participating locations. All sessions include materials, giveaways, and Certificates. The one day (8 hour) session is AED 1,000. The two day session (12 hours) is AED 1,500 and includes a NASA flightsuit. VAT incl. in both prices. Calendar and venues at www.spaceeducation.CA
According to Fatma Mohamed, past participating 7th grade teacher, “From the first hour until the Certificate ceremony, the students were completely immersed and focused on mentally challenging projects and a few expressed their space plans for the future, one stating he plans to pay better attention in maths class so he can calculate rocket trajectories.”
